#Pharoahtoga – Here He Comes

I saw a tweet that rumored Bob Baffert as saying “If you have a seat at Saratoga, I wouldn’t sell it.”

The comment is rumored to have been said shortly after Triple Crown champion #AmericanPharoah coasted through his workout this morning at Del Mar, in Southern California.

Breezing through fractions of 11.68, 23.36, 35.84, 58.74, 1:10 and 1:24.4 the big horse seems set on his way for a trip to upstate New York.

According to a tweet by Zayat Racing Stable Manager @JustinZayat, he wrote “HERE WE COME!!!!!!! #Pharoahtoga” …. Currently my favorite hashtag ever.

Racing fans have been blessed again and again with Pharoah and it’s not something any of us have taken for granted. Yes, we are guilty of pessimism. We are horse racing fans, for heavens sake. That’s in our DNA. Besides, we have all made our bets and torn out tickets on sure things before, so it’s natural to be reserved. But it’s my opinion that America is allowing itself to be excited about a horse again. We are lowering our guard some. We are opening ourselves up.

Saratoga is the Graveyard of Champions. The biggest, the best, the absolute greatest have lost on those hallowed and spiritual grounds.

The hope and prayer of racing purists everywhere is that the beast that is American Pharoah will turn its back on superstition, breeze through the mile and a quarter of the Travers Stakes, and eventually (albeit playfully) rename the grounds #Pharoahtoga for the remainder of the 2015 race meet.

Let’s Go Pharoah!!!
